Yahoo continues to hit the airwaves with its major acquisition moves and the latest being Xobni an email and address book management application. This comes after a series of acquisitions from yahoo by first taking up Tumblr in May 2013 for a whopping $1.1 billion, which will still be under the Tumblr’s team control under leadership of their CEO David Karp. Yahoo later acquired the mini-movie making app Qwiki which makes short clips from a gallery of the consumer’s photos and videos in July 2013. In the same month and week Yahoo made its move on another mobile application Bignoggins which helps players playing fantasy sports.
In a span of three months Yahoo has been able to make 4 acquisitions this translates to more than 12 online startups and mobile applications in the past year alone. Yahoo is geared towards repackaging its services and products to improve on its online presence. Marissa Mayer the CEO vowed to increase traffic to yahoo’s products and services, increase its revenue streams and the latest in yahoo’s acquisitions will see her achieve this. Although Yahoo has not revealed the financial terms for the latest of its acquisition it is estimated that the deal could have gone through for between 30-40 million US Dollars. The online giant (Yahoo) boasting of an approximate 11,000 employees will welcome Jeff Bonforte CEO at Xobni (former employee yahoo) and 31 of the application’s employees.
