Pinterest seeks to expand internationally. This has seen the
company engage in a funds drive with its latest funding from late-stage
investor Fidelity Investments putting in 225 million dollars. This has seen the
valuation of Pinterest rise from an average of 2-2.5 billion to 3.8-4 billion US
dollars in 8 months. According to comScore, Pinterest had approximately 24.9
million monthly unique users in September. This figure is minus mobile traffic
which if added pushes the figure to over 50 million unique viewers. In an
article on Mashable, reps at Pinterest could not be reached for comments but a
statement released by the CEO Ben Ben Silbermann may confirm the report “We
hope to be a service that everyone uses to inspire their future, whether that’s
dinner tomorrow night, a vacation next summer, or a dream house someday. This
new investment enables us to pursue that goal even more aggressively.” A
statement released to AllThingsD by the Pinterest CEO.
